As a trusted partner and philanthropic agent for higher education in Texas, the Texas Higher Education Foundation (THEF) is a catalyst for purposeful and strategic impact at scale.
Our work focuses on raising funds to support partnerships and priorities in support of the state’s strategic plan for higher education, Building a Talent Strong Texas. We believe achieving the vision set forth by Building a Talent Strong Texas will lead us to a future where Texas is among the highest achieving and globally competitive states in the nation. This vision fuels the Foundation’s mission to serve as a catalyst for purposeful and strategic impact at scale.
The Texas Higher Education Foundation was created to serve as the official nonprofit partner of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Since 2001, when it was formed by three Coordinating Board Members as a designated 501(c)(3), the Foundation’s core principles of collaboration, equity, and accountability have served to support the higher education and workforce needs of students, businesses, and communities across Texas.
To date, the Foundation has raised more than $27 million to advance higher education in Texas, with one-third of that total, approximately $9 million, secured under Commissioner Keller’s leadership.
